Dubai Dreams

This November we visited our friends in Dubai for a long over due visit and Dubai did not disappoint.  Dubai which is part of the UAE has always been one of those mystical places that to be honest I didn't know much about so I was excited to get there and learn as much as I could about this place that has been keeping my friend there for the past 8 years.
What struck me was how modern and contemporary the architecture was, I felt like I had travelled into the future especially with the Burj Khalifa towering above me.  Skyscrapers of that magnitude might not be to everyones architectural taste but there was something really beautiful about how it looked.

After a couple of days of settling into our new home and getting used to the heat! (35d in November).  We ventured out of Dubai and travelled to capital city,  Abu Dhabi where we visited one of the most beautiful places I think I have ever seen, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Built in 2007, the scale and grander of the mosque is overwhelming and you spend your time constantly looking around at how beautiful it is.
I have to say if it wasn't for our own special tour guides I don't think we would have seen as much of Dubai as we did.  Here below is more snippets of our trip.
